Invisible Strings

This morning you lay next to me
Tonight, you take your leave.
Now all that lies beside me
Is the scent of your sleep.
The scent deems all else forgettable,
Including those invisible strings
Which wrap your digitus anularis.
I’ll remember them in the morning
When you lie next to me,
But for now, my stomach is searing
With an ill-favoured seismic rumble
Because I can’t find your love for me.
